Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate the price with VAT?
Multiply the price without VAT by 1 plus the rate. At 21% VAT, 100 becomes 100 x 1.21 = 121.
How do I take VAT out of a price?
Divide the price with VAT by 1 plus the rate. At 21%, 121 becomes 121 / 1.21 = 100. Do not simply subtract 21%, because that gives a different answer.
Which VAT rate should I use?
The rate depends on the country and the type of product. Check the tax authority of your country for the current rates. This calculator works with whatever rate you enter.
Does it work for sales tax or GST?
Yes. The calculation is the same for any percentage that is added on top of a price.
