Frequently asked questions
How does the 5-letter word finder work?
It checks a large English word list and keeps only five-letter words that match every clue: the right letters in the right places, the misplaced letters somewhere else, and none of the excluded letters.
What if a letter is both gray and yellow?
That usually means the word has that letter once and you guessed it twice. The tool then allows exactly as many of that letter as you marked as right-place or misplaced, and no more.
Will the suggested words be accepted in my game?
Not always. Word games use their own lists of allowed guesses and of answers, and these differ from the list used here. Treat the results as ideas to check, not as a guarantee.
Is this the same as the official game?
No. This is an independent helper and is not connected to any word game or its publisher.
Is anything uploaded?
No. The word list is downloaded to your browser once and all filtering runs on your device.
