Frequently asked questions

Which option should I choose?

'A space' joins the lines into one block. 'Keep paragraphs' only removes the breaks inside a paragraph and keeps the blank lines between paragraphs. 'Nothing' glues the lines together without a space, which suits lists of codes or numbers.

Why does text copied from a PDF have so many line breaks?

A PDF stores each line of a page separately, so copying it gives a line break at the end of every line, even in the middle of a sentence.

What does the hyphen option do?

It joins a word that was split over two lines, so 'inter-' and 'national' become 'international'. It only joins when the next line starts with a lowercase letter, so a real hyphenated word followed by a capital stays as it is. Check the result for words that should keep their hyphen.

Is my text uploaded?

No. Everything runs in your browser.
