Frequently asked questions
Is this an AI detector?
No. It does not know who wrote a text, and no tool can know for sure. It shows patterns that are common in machine written text, such as stock phrases and very even sentences. People use these patterns too.
Why not give a percentage?
Percentages from AI detectors are unreliable. They often flag text written by people, especially by people writing in a second language, and they miss edited AI text. A number would suggest more certainty than exists.
What do the numbers mean?
The sentence length variation compares how much your sentences differ in length. Human writing usually mixes short and long sentences. A low number means the sentences are very alike. It is a hint, not proof.
Which languages does it check?
The stock phrases are English, so the tool is made for English texts. The counts for sentence length, em dashes and repeated words also work for other languages, but the phrase check will not find anything.
Is my text uploaded?
No. The text is analysed in your browser and is not sent anywhere.
