How to Remove Pages from a PDF Without Uploading It
Updated October 2026
A scan with a blank back page, a report with a cover sheet you do not need, an attachment with one page too many. Removing pages from a PDF takes under a minute, and it can be done on your own device, so the document is never sent anywhere.
Remove pages in four steps
- Open the Delete PDF Pages tool.
- Choose your PDF or drag it onto the page. The number of pages is shown.
- Type the pages to delete, for example 2 or 3-5.
- Click Delete pages and download the new PDF.
Your original file is not changed. You always download a new file, so if you removed the wrong page you can simply start again.
How to write the page numbers
| You want to remove | Type |
|---|---|
| Page 2 | 2 |
| Pages 3 to 5 | 3-5 |
| Pages 1, 4 and 9 | 1, 4, 9 |
| Page 1 and pages 6 to 8 | 1, 6-8 |
Page numbers are counted from the first page of the file, not from the number printed on the page. If a report has a cover and the first printed page number is 1 on the second sheet, the cover is still page 1 here.
Keeping pages instead of removing them
If you want to keep only a few pages out of many, it is quicker to say which ones to keep. Extract PDF Pages does exactly that and puts them in a new file, in any order you type them.
Check the result
- Open the new file and check the page count against what you expected.
- Look at the pages around the ones you removed, to be sure the right ones are gone.
- If the file is for someone else, keep the original until they confirm they received the right one.
Password protected PDFs
A PDF that asks for a password cannot be edited directly. Open it in a PDF reader with the password, save or print it to a new PDF without protection, and use that copy. Only do this with documents you are allowed to open.
