How to Merge PDF Files Without Uploading Them

Updated October 2026

Sending five separate PDFs is awkward for you and for the person receiving them. Merging them into one file takes less than a minute, and it can be done without uploading anything.

Merge PDFs in four steps

  1. Open the Merge PDF tool.
  2. Choose your PDF files, or drag them onto the page. You can add more later.
  3. Put them in the right order with the arrow buttons.
  4. Click Merge and download the combined file.

Why it matters where the merging happens

Many online PDF services work by uploading your files to their servers, combining them there and sending the result back. For a restaurant menu that is fine. For a contract, a payslip, a medical letter or a copy of your passport, it means a stranger's computer has held a copy of your document.

Toolpuffin combines the files inside your browser, on your own computer or phone. The files are never sent anywhere. You can check this yourself: load the page, switch off your internet connection, and the tool still works.

Tips for a good result

  • Name your files 01, 02, 03 before you start. They are then easy to put in order.
  • Pages keep their own size and direction. An A4 page and a landscape slide can sit in the same PDF without problems.
  • Text stays selectable and searchable, because pages are copied as they are and not turned into images.
  • Only need a few pages from one of the files? Extract those pages first, then merge.
  • A sideways page can be fixed afterwards with the Rotate PDF tool.

What does not carry over

The pages themselves are copied exactly. A few document-level extras from the original files may be missing in the merged PDF: the bookmark list in the sidebar, and fillable form fields. If you rely on those, check the result before you send it.

Password protected PDFs

A PDF that asks for a password cannot be merged directly. Open it in a PDF reader with the password, save or print it to a new PDF without protection, and merge that copy. Only do this with documents you are allowed to open.

The other way round

If one PDF needs to become several, use Split PDF. It can save every page as its own file or cut the document into parts you choose.
